Jesus Healed the One

Jesus left his ministry in the synagogue where he was teaching and healing the many. He felt it more important to love the one. That person was the mother-in-law of Peter. Peter was the first fisherman to leave his work to follow Jesus in his ministry. The significance of this story is that each left work to care for individuals. Peter left his business to follow Jesus, Jesus left the business of caring for the masses to love one person, and the mother immediately cared for Jesus and his disciples instead of focusing on maintaining her schedule as housewife. This is another story to emphasize the importance of us as individuals choosing to love our families rather than tending to our jobs or business routines. Yes, working is important for it pays the bills, but we work because we love our families. It is a matter of attitude, which is more important—love or work? Every day I remind my married clients to talk through their issues big and small to attain the love they have lost by making work more important than making love.
