Why Counseling? Its Slow Death Part 4

In 2016 I was earning $1440 a week by using insurance but getting paid only $500. Not even the Georgia Insurance Commissioner was able to force them to pay me. Insurance companies had stopped paying doctors the years before and now turned to cheating counselors. Try living in Atlanta on $2000 a month after taxes with a mortage and family to support. I had to find a way to make more money and fast. I began taking self-pay cllents for $150 a session. It was tough. I got lots of calls but everybody wanted to pay with health insurance or get it free with Employee Assistance Programs. The clients I did get had tried counseling by EAP or insurance counselors that didn’t help much. I did well till millions lost their jobs during Covid and I lost most of my clients.

Thanks for your continued referrals during these trying times. You are true friends in my time of need.
