Will Your Children Become Addicts
Will your children become alcoholics or drug addicts and ruin their lives? They probably will if they fear life. What does this mean? Individuals having the Bipolar Disorder will live on a roller-coaster of low energy-high energy cycles all their lives unless they find a medication to even out those cycles. When the medication works, this individual for the first time experiences actual “life”. They find it to be a stable 24/7 experience not interrupted by up and down cycles. It is the same “life” all of us as normal people experience every day. Most of them either stop taking the medication or self-medicate with alcohol or illegal drugs to bring back the roller-coaster effect. Why? Because they cannot tolerate the pressures and demands of normal life.
Normal children and teens get a taste of being bipolar when they experiment with alcohol and drugs. They find an escape from the expectations and pressures. If they choose this escape regularly they most often become alcoholics or drug addicts. Parents must teach their children how to adjust to the pressures of “life” so that they will not choose to escape them. We at CounselingServicesAtlanta.com can teach parents what they must do to prevent addiction in their children.
