The Fun Therapy

The Fun Therapy

Having fun was never the intention when developing these eight skills as a new method for individual, couple, family or group psychotherapy. Learning the 8 skills was certainly never fun. It was gruesome in some cases. Learning one of those skills put me in the hospital. I spent two years in rigorous clinical training to learn two of the skills designed for the purpose. When I failed to learn through those programs, I created more effective ways of learning on my own. Because I had to learn the hard way, I was able to make the skills easier for others—then fun.

The couples I have taught the “Eight Skills for Intimate Connections” have spent most of their time laughing while learning. Because it is fun, they have learned much faster and have applied those skills to resolve all their issues within months, instead of years as is normal with the “old therapies” such as Rogerian or Person-Centered.
