The Big White Dog with Green Eyes is the self-counseling book I published giving couples eight easy steps for producing a relationship/marriage perfect for them. Normally, a troubled couple has an issue or two that makes starting the Eight Steps difficult. These need to be addressed by a professional counselor beforehand. My recommendation is that a couple use the following two assessments to determine the most critical issues for the counselor to address. After that, the couple may follow the eight steps precisely as the exercises dictate to have the relationship/marriage perfect for them. Sound too simple or too good to be true? That’s what I thought but clients have proved me wrong. The main reason the method works is that the couple is learning to use eight new relationship skills that they did not learn while growing up. These skills simply make relationships/marriages easier.
There are exceptions for the use of this self-counseling method. Addictions and certain mental illnesses and personality disorders may sabotage its use. When one or both of the couple has the need to be right, the need to control and is a perfectionist, relationship/marriage will be very difficult to attain using any method, even full-time counseling.
Read the book and discover what makes the method so successful. Find out how it can turn a divorce announcement back into a happy marriage with one step.
Sometimes I find a couple with too many issues to resolve and infuse the eight into the normal counseling sessions. Still, the couple will experience the marriage perfect enough for them far more quickly than if they did not learn the eight along with the regular therapy.
