Man’s Need to Fix

Another reason couples become unhappy is man’s need to fix things. If the washing machine stops working, he thinks it absurd that his wife should spend money on a repairman. It takes the machine apart, can’t fix it, maybe damages the motherboard and has to buy a new washing machine. All it would have taken was paying $100 for a technician to fix it. The man does the same thing with marriage problems. “Oh, I can fix it. It’s absurd to pay $200 for a marriage counselor.” After six months when the problem has actually gotten worse, he is surprised that his wife wants a divorce. “Just give me a little more time. I’m sure I can fix it,” he says. Then he gets the papers in the mail.
